What is Tantra?

Tantra offers an alternative path.

The tantric approach to life is an alternative ancient path to achievement. Tantra itself means "to weave, to expand, and to spread," and according to tantric masters, the fabric of life can provide true and everlasting fulfillment only when all the threads are woven according to the pattern designated by nature.

When we are born, life naturally forms itself around that pattern. But as we grow, our ignorance, desire, attachment, fear and false images of others and ourselves tangle and tear the threads, disfiguring the fabric. Tantra sadhana, or practice, reweaves the fabric and restores the original pattern.

This path is systematic and comprehensive. The profound science and practices pertaining to hatha yoga, pranayama, mudras, rituals, kundalini yoga, nada yoga, mantra, mandala, visualization of deities, alchemy, Ayurveda, astrology, and hundreds of esoteric practices for generating worldly and spiritual prosperity blend perfectly in the tantric disciplines.

Doesn't Tantra mean sex, does Tantra mean participating in orgies? With whom should we practice Tantra?

The concept of Tantra commonly known in the West is totally wrong. It is not about sex. In fact, it is a system of worship of the Feminine. By systematic worship, seekers elevate their spiritual understanding.

To practice correct Tantra, proper knowledge of scripture and accompanied mantra are necessary. Having a physical orgy, as many misinformed and misguided people in the west do, is not Tantra. Orgies can lead people to contacting STDs, which sometimes even leads to death, especially in this age of AIDS and other incurable STDs.

Genuine Tantra should be practiced between wife and
husband, committed partners who have reached a healthy place of trust or advanced practitioners who are at a similar level and who have known each other for a long time.

Having coitus is not Tantra. This is a very important point to remember. There is a woman in the US who is not qualified as a guru but teaching Tantra. She is simply finding a way to justify strangers having orgies, just like an Indian guru who was famous for advocating sex as a spiritual path and did the same.

Tantra liberates us

Tantra refers to a set of rituals intended to liberate us. The subject is so deep and profound, that there are no quick results. Just having physical intercourse will neither enlighten nor elevate anyone. Were it so, humanity and animals would have been liberated long ago. That is not the case.

The significance of authentic Tantra lies in the fact that for the first time Tantra is explained, in a clear, understandable way, in modern widely used language for the spiritual aspirants.

As in the case of secret societies, anything hidden has a danger of being misinterpreted and abused. Of course, to reveal the hidden secret can also be dangerous. My Guru says;

‘To hide the science of ritual from the general public, because it may not be in tune with the present form, is incorrect.’

The Tantra of the past was totally different from the current twisted Tantrik practice. As many people already know, there are many so-called Tantrik facilitators whose only aim is to indulge in a sexual orgy. Wasting sexual energy in this way is actually a waste of our life force, it weakens us.

According to the teaching of yogic science, it's better to preserve our sexual energy, and essential if we want to utilise it for a higher purpose. If we intend to follow a spiritual path, just having sex will not arouse kundalini or make someone an adept Tantric facilitator. Sexual orgies don't achieve anything and actually wastes the energy stored in the human body.

The original Tantra was meant to assist human evolution. The task set forth by my guru is to revive the authentic Tantra. However, to execute such a gigantic task the teacher needs to be well equipped, both in conventional education and spiritual education.

The ages of blind faiths are over. Modern people need to be convinced of sound reason and logical explanations. Emerging from a mountain claiming he/she knows Tantra may have worked in a previous era, but in the modern age this would never be accepted, and these kinds of self-claimed mystics must be rejected. Authentic Tantra and the Tantric Path are not about having sex for fun, or finding permission to be promiscuous. It's a spiritual path to be taken seriously, it's a sacred energy experience.
